I am admitted to International business PhD program at University of South Carolina, Darla Moore Business school. I am from Pakistan but I have been living in Korea for 4 years with my wife and new born daughter. I want to get F1 and F2 Visa together with my wife and daughter this year in April.

I will apply Visa from Korea as I am working there. Will it be a problem if I apply outside my home country? As a foreigner in Korea, I have no property etc. Though, I want to come back Korea after my PhD and work in some Korean Universities as assistant professor. Will it be a problem applying Visa outside Pak? Also, is it difficult if I apply Visa with my wife and daughter?

Your help and suggestions are highly appreciated.

They didn’t let us travel like when we got to London for a transit then on the counter they were like someone from homeland security wants to talk to you were like okay he asked very basic questions then he’s like okay you can travel then he came back he’s like no sorry you can’t I’m like why he’s like I can’t tell you and he just left. Then the American embassy back home said there sorry about what happed but we cancelled your visa you have to reapply and tell your university your going to take the semester off and start in spring again. The guy that interview me was like it’s so weird what they did to you he’s like everything is okay were just going time have to check a few things if everything is okay well tell you to bring you passport to give you the visa they took all my other papers 1-20 and stuff. I still didnt receive a visa is there a reason as to why?

I was denied a visa for the first time …i was attending a conference in usa ,what the possibility that i will get the F1visa this time around?

neville May 12, 2012 at 2:48 pm

I would think you can develop a more compelling case this time around than previous. Attending college in the US will hopefully be viewed as a more legitimate reason to grant a visa than atteding a conference. If you follow the advice on this site you will improve your chances by being more prepared. That said there are NO guarantees. Let us know how it turns out and good luck.

I hope I get the information that would guarantee my making it to the states for study I would prefer info for business management and accountancy

neville May 5, 2012 at 2:19 pm

Hi Onyilofor,
There are no guarantees in life. But there are things you can do to improve your chances of success. Try spending some time researching your areas of interest. Google is an awesome tool. Cost is always a big factor for many so take that into consideration. Do you already know the sources that will pay for your studies? Also your academic qualifications, do you already meet the minimum qualifications required by universities of interest. Take some time and narrow things down. This site provides step by step information on
Selecting -> Financing -> Applying -> Visa Interview.
